Books This Week: The Princess Bride and This Woman's Work
William Goldman is a favorite author for one reason: Wigger. I know, I know. Rotten title. Awesome book. I love it to bits. Either a sarcastic pink blanket or love is the main character. I admire The Princess Bride, but wish I’d read it before the movie. It’s taken away much of the joy for me.
A book I wasn’t sure about, at first, is This Woman’s Work by Julie Delporte. But, well, it deals somewhat with Tove Jansson and Moomins, so that’s good enough for me. I am enjoying the illustrations and narrative, and recommend the book. Read it in big gulps like a short story. Quite lovely, sad, and sticks with you.
